DAE Sports and Cultural Council in collaboration with BARC Staff Club is happy to announce the All India DAE Trekking Expedition in the Himalayas "TREK THE HIMALAYA-11 " to be conducted during September 16th to September 26th, 2019 in ‘Bagini Glacier” region of Uttarakhand. This will be a 11 days long trekking activity scheduled along old trekking trails, camping at scenic spots on the way.

ROUTE AND SCHEDULE

Bagini Glacier Trek: Bagini Glacier is situated to the north of the outer wall of Nanda Devi Peak. It starts from Changbang peak, initially it flows northwards before turning westward where water from Dunagiri Glacier joins Bagini river. Finally it merges with Dhauli Ganga river near Jumma village.  It is a moderate trek, with the trail passing through some interesting Garhwali villages, flower-strewn meadows and lush forests. The view of several Himalayan peaks like Hathi Parvat, Ghodi Parvat, Rishi Peak, Satminal, Hardeul, Kalanka, Trishuli and Dunagiri East also makes this trekking expedition in Uttarakhand quite exciting. Maximum height gained is ~14800 ft.

PARTICIPATION

This is an open event with past trekking experience. The participants should be prepared to walk 7 to 8 hours everyday, at this altitude. Participation would be subject to following conditions:

  1. Only DAE employees can participate in this event.
  2. Number of participants would be limited to 25, including (2 Camp Leaders), 8 from units other than Mumbai zone and 15 from DAE Units in Mumbai Zone (as defined in DAE Annual trek).
  3. Medical certificate regarding fitness for the trek at this altitude is compulsory for all participants.
  4. Participants shall give an undertaking that they are willingly participating in the Trek on their own and not holding the organisers responsible for any damage due to accident or any medical emergency to the individual.
  5. Travel subsidy will not be given to any participant.
  6. Travel up to Rishikesh and back will be borne by the participants
  7. The total participation fee of Rs.18,750/- out of which Rs.17,250/- is payable by the participants with the form after taking into account the subsidy of Rs. 1,500/- being provided by DAE Sports & Cultural Council.
  8. Participants must co-operate with camp leaders and fellow participants. In any case, Camp leaders decision will be final.
  9. Discharge will be tentatively on 25th or 26th September from Rishikesh depending on the weather condition and other logistics. Expenses post discharge is to be borne by the particpants. However, vehicles has been arranged from Joshimath to Rishikesh for all participants. Overnight stay at Rishikesh has also been arranged for all the particpants.

LEAVE

Participating employees would be entitled for Special Casual Leave as per rules. Necessary approval for the expedition is being sought from Indian Mountaineering Foundation for this purpose. Participants are required to take prior provisional sanction of leave for this from respective leave sanctioning authority.

ENROLMENT

Enrolment would be done on the receipt of individual enrolment forms, completed in all respects and accompanied by requisite participation fees.

SELECTION

Selection for participation in the Trek will be done based on the performance, stamina, team spirit, etc. observed during the selection trial trek being arranged for the purpose. It is mandatory to participate in the selection trial trek being arranged in the Sahyadris.

NOTE:

Eligibility: Previous trekking experience is must. A participant should have participated in at least two GIRISANCHAR treks or a Himalayan trek or completed a mountaineering course. Please furnish details. Participants who had participated in previous Himalayan Trekking Expedition sponsored by DAE S&CC will be considered if vacancies are available. The participants have to participate in local treks and the performance will be observed. Decision of the organizing committee will be final. In case of over subscription the allotment will be done by random draw.

Documents Required: 1. Copy of photo ID issued by government application. 2. Three photographs - 2 cms x 2 cms (One to be pasted on the form and other two stapled for Identity Card

Fee: The participants will have to pay fee of Rupees Seventeen Thousand Two Hundred Fifty only (Rs 17250/-) along with Application Form. Cheques to be drawn in favor of “GIRISANCHAR”.

Refund: Deductions of Rs. 500/- till 30/08/2019, deduction of Rs. 3000/- between 01/09/2019 to 11/09/2019 and no refund on or after 12/09/2019.

If the information given above is found incorrect, the applicant is liable for disqualification from the expedition.
